The Bar-headed Goose is believed to be the highest flying of all birds, having been observed at over 33,000 feet. It has a slightly larger wing area for its weight than other geese, which seems to play a role in helping it fly so high.  It migrates over the Himalayas to reach its winter grounds.  The two distinctive bars on their head distinguish them from similar species.
