Learn the Wild WayFor more information on all educational activities and to get your child or group scheduled for an event, please call our Education/Volunteer Coordinator at 223-7543 or e-mail (subject should be Ed-venture). Education is one of the top priorities of the Dakota Zoo and we offer numerous educational activities. School GroupsBring your class to the Zoo for an exciting animal program! Presentations are held in the Bismarck Tribune Discovery Center by appointment through the Zoo's education Coordinator at 223-7543. From September through April, programs are available on Fridays only. We ask that you call or e-mail (subject should be School Group) at least two weeks in advance to increase chances of a Docent's availability to give a presentation. Due to prior commitments, there may be times that programs are not available. We will do our best to honor your request for a given day. In case of cancellation, notify our Education/Volunteer Coordinator at least one day in advance, if possible. Admission rates for school groups this season will be $2.00 per person (including teachers, chaperones, bus drivers, etc.). It is helpful if money is collected in advance and enclosed in an envelope to allow for quicker service at the admission window. Please list students that have current memberships on the envelope, along with their membership numbers so they may enter free of charge. Please let us know if you desire to ride the train ($2.50 per person), purchase concessions or want the gift shop available. We look forward to sharing the many wonders that nature and our Zoo have to offer! SpeakersGroups and organizations can arrange to have a speaker or presentation for their meetings and office parties for a small fee. Advance notice of two weeks is required. Day Camps for KidsDay camps help children learn about the Zoo's fascinating creatures through games, activities and hands-on encounters. For more details, see our Special Events page, or contact our education/volunteer coordinator at 223-7543.
